He is known for his unique fingerstyle guitar playing, which incorporates country, rock, and blues genres. Lee gained fame as a member of the band Heads, Hands & Feet and later worked with artists such as Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris, and The Crickets. He is particularly noted for his work in the country music genre and received a Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance in 1971. Lee has also been a prominent figure in the rockabilly and rock music scenes, admired for his technical skills and energetic performances.
