Brad Friedel is a retired American soccer player who was born on May 20, 1971, in Redwood City, California. He was a goalkeeper known for his longevity and consistency in the Premier League, with a career spanning over two decades. Friedel began his professional career with the Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer (MLS) before moving to Europe, where he played for clubs such as Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Blackburn Rovers. He is one of the only players to have played more than 450 matches in the Premier League and is renowned for his record of 310 consecutive league appearances. Friedel also represented the United States national team, earning over 400 caps, and was a participant in three FIFA World Cups (1994, 1998, and 2002). After retiring from professional play, he transitioned into coaching and is known for his contributions to the development of young players.
