A.J. Hinch is a former professional baseball player and current baseball manager, known for his tenure as the manager of the Houston Astros. Born on May 15, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska, Hinch played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers and the Philadelphia Phillies. After his playing career, he transitioned into coaching and management. Hinch became the Astros' manager in 2015, leading the team to a World Series victory in 2017 and again in 2019. His leadership was instrumental in developing young talent and implementing advanced analytics within the team's strategy. However, he was suspended for the entire 2020 MLB season due to his involvement in the Astros' sign-stealing scandal. Following his suspension, Hinch was hired as the manager of the Detroit Tigers in October 2020, where he continues to develop the team's prospects and culture.
